Robots for all: how Robonnement’s subscription model supports microfactories and small integrators

A blog post from December 2024 about small manufacturers who want to automate without a large investment, and what still holds in our projects today.

A painting robot, still wrapped in film, is mounted in a steel frame above a grating.

What it was about

In December 2024 we wrote about small, highly automated production sites, often called microfactories. The thesis: small manufacturers in particular need automation but have neither the capital to buy robots nor the people to run them. The post also described an offer for small integrators to provide their robots on subscription through us. That offer no longer exists in this form.

What still holds today

The first half of the thesis has been confirmed in our projects. A small job coater in Lübeck has worked since 2022 with the smallest variant, a stationary robot. A family business in the Hegau paints with a robot on its existing chain, a family business in Emsland with a robot on a carousel. We choose the robot, install it, teach the first programs with the team and maintain it, on subscription or as a purchase.

We revised and shortened this version on September 28, 2026.
