What it was about
In March 2022, the trade magazine BESSER LACKIEREN spoke with Nimrod Malinas about the goal of automating the painting industry in Germany, Austria and Switzerland with robots that a painter can operate without programming skills. The basic idea: robots should protect and relieve painters, not replace them.
What came of it
Four years later, this is our everyday work. As the official Lesta partner for Germany, Austria and Switzerland, we build painting systems with self-learning robots: the painter guides the arm through the motion once, and the robot repeats it on every shift. The systems run in existing booths, on chain conveyors, on carousels and linear axes, at job coaters as well as in group plants.
Why it matters
Solvents in the booth endanger health: the International Agency for Research on Cancer classifies occupational exposure as a painter as carcinogenic to humans. A robot takes people out of this work, and their skill stays in the plant as a program.
