Window manufacturer in the Upper Palatinate

On September 20, 2026, the line ran fully automatically for the first time

Being commissioned Anonymous case: we name the industry and the place, not the customer.

Before

A robotic painting line that could no longer be maintained.

After

On September 20, 2026 the whole line ran fully automatically for the first time, fine-tuning continues.

The situation

The existing painting line for wooden windows, with a robot, could no longer be maintained: outdated controls, unfinished conveyor programming, no German user interface. The windows come round, square, slanted, with segmental arches and glazing bars.

What we built

A retrofit from the ground up: a new control cabinet with robot controller and software, 2D and 3D scanners at the painting station, a new user interface and fault reporting system. The power-and-free conveyor takes the windows through the stations loading, pre-washing, flow coating, painting, humidifying and unloading, controlled by eight recipes and a Beckhoff controller. Together with the customer we simplified the operating modes from three to two. Beforehand we visited the robot maker in Italy with him.

Built with

  • New control cabinet with robot controller and software
  • 2D and 3D scanners at the painting station
  • Beckhoff CX2020 with TwinCAT 3 and EtherCAT
  • Power-and-free conveyor with pneumatic switches
  • New user interface and fault reporting system

The result

Station-by-station commissioning was on schedule on 14 out of 14 days, and on September 20, 2026, the whole line ran fully automatically for the first time. Our technician was on site throughout September, weekends included. Fine-tuning is under way.

Why it matters

We also get systems running again that nobody could maintain any more.
