The situation
A father-and-son business with a great many series, parts up to four meters long and weighing up to 600 kg. The company was skeptical about robots, and protection against collisions mattered a lot to it.
What we built
First a test coating in our demonstration plant in Nunningen, with his own part (2,200 x 840 x 420 mm) and his own powder, after a 530-kilometer drive. Then a Lesta robot on the running conveyor chain: while teaching, the coater starts and stops the chain with a button on the joystick, and if the robot goes into alarm, it stops the chain. When a long part takes more than 500 seconds, the robot coats for 490 seconds and the coater does the rest.

The result
Since October 2025 the robot has coated some colors entirely on its own. The maintenance visit in May 2026 found nothing critical.
Why it matters
The customer drove 530 kilometers with his own part before he decided.
