Use case · Painting
Krone Group, coating plant in Emsland
A robot for the overhead work in the powder cloud
The situation
Two manual stations per shift, three shifts: the coaters stand under large truck bodies and coat the beams overhead in the powder cloud. The plant’s customers order body heights in steps of almost 30 millimeters, so every part hangs differently.
What we built
A self-learning Lesta robot on a floor rail with up to 6 meters of travel, synchronized with the conveyor through a rotary encoder on the chain drive. Two of the plant’s powder guns in a V arrangement coat both sides of a beam in one pass, without turning the part. One recipe per part links the robot program and the powder control, and a gateway connects the controllers. Before deciding, the plant visited a job coater in Emsland that has been working with our robots since 2023.
Built with

- Rotary encoder on the chain drive
- Two of the plant’s powder guns in a V arrangement
- One recipe per part, gateway between the controllers

The result
Ordered on September 2, 2026. Installation takes place between Christmas and New Year with three to four technicians, because the booth has to produce again from January 11, 2027.
Why it matters
The most strenuous job in the coating line goes to a robot, and people do the checking.
