A scanner checks every part and picks the program
Before
Gearboxes in many variants and complex shapes, painted entirely by hand.
After
A scanner checks every part and starts the right program, in production since January 2025.
The situation
Gearboxes in many variants and with complex shapes were painted entirely by hand.
What we built
An automatic 2K line with Airmix: a Lesta robot on a concrete foundation, a purpose-built turning fixture and a 3D scanner that checks before every part whether the right part is in the right place, then starts the matching program. Installation in October and November 2024, tests in January 2025, an additional sensor against collisions in April 2025.
Built with
- Lesta MV A6 painting robot on a concrete foundation
- Turning fixture of our own design
- 3D scanner for part checking and program selection
- 2K application with Airmix
- Conveyor belt
The result
On January 22, 2025, the system painted its first customer orders, and the stress test and handover followed the next day. The line has been in production ever since.
Why it matters
A scanner and a turning fixture turn manual work on complex gearboxes into a line.
