Carbon add-on parts paint shop in Rhenish Hesse
A measuring cell documents every good part

The situation
Whether a painted surface was good depended on the inspector and on the day: the same part could be rated differently on two days. The company wants to ship only good parts and, in case of transport damage, be able to prove that the part was fine.
What we built
A cell with two rooms: in the closed scanning room, a KUKA robot guides a Micro-Epsilon deflectometry sensor over every part, and roller doors separate the rework room. Every part has a barcode, the pass or fail report shows the defect map on the tablet at the polishing station, and a photo of every good part is stored in the ERP. The booth is built from sandwich panels, a SICK radar handles safety, and we plan the paths with our own software.
Built with
- KUKA industrial robot
- Micro-Epsilon reflectCONTROL deflectometry sensor
- SICK radar for safety
- Barcode per part, tablet at the polishing station, photo in the ERP
- Our own Python tools for paths and programs
The result
Commissioning with a signed protocol on July 22, 2026, followed by fine-tuning and training. The customer’s target: no more than six minutes per set, about 35 sets a day.
Why it matters
A measuring sensor documents the good parts instead of arguing about bad ones.
