Camouflage Automotive, Heilbronn: inspection cell
Every part leaves the plant with an inspection report
Before
The eye decided whether a part was good, and after a complaint there was no proof.
After
Every part leaves the plant with an inspection report, fine-tuning continues.
The situation
Until now, the eye decided whether a painted carbon part was good. When a complaint came in, e-mails went back and forth along the supply chain, because nobody could prove what condition the part was in when it left the plant. Serial numbers sat in Excel and in the ERP, and progress was only visible through standard times.
What we built
A scanning cell with a KUKA robot and a 3D sensor, our own software for the point cloud, and one verdict per part: pass or fail. Plus a Part Passport that cannot be overwritten, tablets at every station and an AI agent that answers questions such as where a given part is right now. The software grew out of the customer’s Excel logic, and our founder worked on site himself to build it.
Built with
- KUKA industrial robot with a 3D sensor
- Our own software for point cloud and paths
- Beckhoff TwinCAT, safe positions in the KUKA controller
- Tablets at every station, a part passport that cannot be overwritten
- AI agent for questions about order status
The result
In operation since June 2026, fine-tuning is under way. Every part leaves the plant with an inspection report that records the condition it was in.
Why it matters
An opinion becomes a measurement: every part leaves the plant with proof.
