Passt Coating AG, Nunningen
- Before
- No powder coaters left to hire, orders piling up, the business close to shutting down.
- After
- The old line runs at full capacity again, and the plant is now our demo site in Switzerland.

What we build
We plan, build, commission and service afterwards. Most projects start in a booth that is already there.
Powder and wet paint, with your guns and your paint supply. Your painter shows the movement once.
Example: Passt Coating AG, NunningenFour arms, rotary unit, heavy duty up to 400 kg. One part is painted while the next is loaded.
Example: Plastics paint shop for medical technology in the Black Forest-Baar districtAn encoder on the chain sprocket tells the robot how fast the parts are moving. The line stays as it is.
Example: Family-run paint shop in the Hegau regionUp to 6 meters of travel for truck bodies and long profiles, lifting axes for undercuts on the line.
Example: Krone Group, coating plant in EmslandNew controls, scanners and operation for a line nobody could maintain anymore.
Example: Window manufacturer in the Upper PalatinateA KUKA robot guides a 3D scanner or a deflectometry sensor over every part and files the result.
Example: Camouflage Automotive, Heilbronn: inspection cellAn aerospace cell with a pit and an Ex zone, flame treatment and painting on one axis, rotary fixtures of our own design.
Example: BORBET, wheel plant in ThuringiaOur own low-pressure dosing with servo motors and gear pumps, dosed by volume instead of pressure.
Example: Family-owned paint shop in EmslandCells for the end of the line. We simulate gripper, cycle time and reach before anything is built.

What we build with
These are the systems we build into booths, cells and lines today. Under each one: the projects it is part of.
Lesta
Self-learning painting robots from Italy. Your painter guides the arm, the robot stores the movement. From compact versions for existing booths to heavy duty, also for Ex zones.
In our projects at Passt Coating AG, Nunningen , Sievers Lackierungen, Oberkochen , Krone Group, coating plant in Emsland (Ordered on September 2, 2026)
KUKA
Industrial robots for measuring and inspection cells, not for the paint booth.
In our projects at Camouflage Automotive, Heilbronn: inspection cell (Pilot since June 2026), Carbon add-on parts paint shop in Rhenish Hesse (Being commissioned)
Carousels and rotary units
Four-arm carousels, heavy-duty carousels up to 400 kg, turntables and rotary tables with a slewing ring.
In our projects at BORBET, wheel plant in Thuringia , Plastics paint shop for medical technology in the Black Forest-Baar district , Aerospace supplier in Saxony (Ordered in April 2026)
Linear and lifting axes
Floor rails up to 6 meters, lifting axes for overhead work, robot bases sunk into the floor and steel stands.
In our projects at Krone Group, coating plant in Emsland (Ordered on September 2, 2026), Agricultural machinery maker in the Osnabrück region , BETEC Beschichtungstechnik, near Karlsruhe
3D scanners and cameras
They recognize which part is coming and how it hangs, and shift the taught program accordingly.
In our projects at BORBET, wheel plant in Thuringia , Drive technology maker in Baden-Württemberg , Family-owned paint shop in Emsland
Micro-Epsilon
Deflectometry for glossy surfaces: measures painted surfaces for dents and scratches.
In our projects at Carbon add-on parts paint shop in Rhenish Hesse (Being commissioned)
SAMES Kremlin
Airmix, airless, Cyclomix 2K, Flowmax pumps, automatic and manual guns.
In our projects at Family-run paint shop in the Hegau region , Aerospace supplier in Saxony (Ordered in April 2026)
Our own 2K dosing
Low pressure with servo motors and gear pumps, up to four paint circuits with flushing.
In our projects at Plastics paint shop for medical technology in the Black Forest-Baar district , Family-owned paint shop in Emsland
Your existing equipment
We integrate what you already have, for example powder guns from Nordson or GEMA.
In our projects at Krone Group, coating plant in Emsland (Ordered on September 2, 2026), BETEC Beschichtungstechnik, near Karlsruhe
Beckhoff
Controllers with TwinCAT and EtherCAT, linked to your control system via Profinet or a gateway.
In our projects at Window manufacturer in the Upper Palatinate (Being commissioned), Krone Group, coating plant in Emsland (Ordered on September 2, 2026)
SICK and Leuze
Radar, light curtains and photoelectric sensors, also for Ex zones.
In our projects at Carbon add-on parts paint shop in Rhenish Hesse (Being commissioned), Industrial paint shop in the Upper Palatinate

In our projects at Family-run paint shop in the Hegau region
We work with
When we advise against
We say so before the offer, not after the order.
March 2026
About 500 m² of painted surface a day, 30 own colors, 20 to 30 color changes a day, parts almost four meters long. After the walkthrough we advised against it: the parts are too long for the booths, and the team paints the edges of stacked panels by hand simply and quickly. Most defects came earlier anyway, as dents in foil-coated panels that nobody sees before painting. We proposed a simple inspection station that measures every panel before and after painting.
About quality inspection How a project runs, step by stepMarch 2026
An industrial paint shop tested a transport robot for its hall. Glossy parts disturbed the sensors. We did not keep using it there.
September 2026
A maker of heavy drive parts asked for a low-cost cobot for the paint booth. We advised against it, because cobots need a lot of maintenance in paint mist and solvents, and proposed an industrial robot on a rail.
Every project
The first question is: does it take one robot or a whole system? We ask it in the first conversation.
Real photos from our projects, with place and month.
A painting robot in your existing booth costs from EUR 2,900 a month, including installation, maintenance and spare parts. Cells, inspection cells and special machines are priced after a free site walkthrough. We also tell you when it does not pay off.
No. Your painter teaches a painting robot by showing the motion, and with many variants a scanner recognizes the part and picks the program. Inspection cells and special machines are handed over with finished recipes, and we train your team to run them.
At an industrial painter in the Upper Palatinate, the first test program ran one week after arrival on site; with pre-assembly in Altstätten it was four weeks to the first painted part. At a plastics painter for medical technology it took one month from the first day on site to handover. Special machines take longer: we give you the schedule after the walkthrough.
No. We install during plant holidays or station by station. At a window maker in the Upper Palatinate, the retrofit of an entire painting line stayed on plan on 14 of 14 days.
We check remotely first, and a technician comes if needed. After a collision at a contract coater in Emsland, production was running again after about four hours. If a robot on the chain goes into alarm, the chain stops and your team can keep working by hand. What is binding is in your contract.
We do, from Altstätten: remote diagnosis first, then a technician on site. Maintenance and safety checks on schedule, one report per visit. At the contract coater in Emsland, for example, we replace the control cabinet coolers during regular service, about one hour per robot.
The robot does the repetitions, your people make the decisions. At an agricultural machinery maker the coater stays at the booth, at Sievers Lackierungen the team gave the robot a name, and at a paint shop in Saarland the painter now improves the programs himself. We train on site until your team runs the system on its own.

How we start
We look at your parts, booth, line or floors. You get an honest answer on whether a robot pays off for you, and if it does, a first concept.
See a robot at work and ask the people who run it every day.
